Apple's New Line Up: MacBook Pros and iPhone 3G S

Its that time again...for Apple to throw some new products at us. It appears that the rumors of Apple coming out with a new iPhone in June are true. They have just released their new version of the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3G S. In addition to that they have released a new line of MacBook Pros.

The first thing to be noted about the new phone is that all applications and everything else should now load up to two times as fast as they did on the previous generation iPhones. That means your apps launch faster, web pages render much quicker, and you have higher gaming performance. The next new feature to note is the 3 Megapixel camera, or should I say video camera..I think I should. Not only does it record video but it also allows you to trim the video on the fly with an interface that resembles iMovie, minus all the other features. Once you are done editing your new movie, you can upload it to YouTube, email it, or sync it back to your computer or your MobileMe account. The camera will now allow you to use its new auto focus, or click anywhere on the screen to focus on that object. Another anticipated feature that they have added is voice control. You can call anyone on your phone or put in a song request simply by saying it. They have also added a new compass app, which I think is mostly useless except for one thing, your gps can now react to what direction you are facing. Probably the best upgrades the new phone and software brings are the text and email features. You can now cut, copy, and paste, type emails and texts in landscape mode, and send messages with video, audio, pictures, locations, and contact information! Also being brought to the table is Spotlight. This allows you to search for anything on your phone, anything. A surprising feature that Apple has decided to include is the ability to tether your internet connection. I remember a while back that some guy made an app for that and it was a big deal because Apple wouldn't allow it in the App Store. Anywho...you can also record voice notes, the stock app has more features, their are accessibility features, and a few other things that Apple has thrown in to make this already impossible phone to compete with, well more impossible to compete with.

Now on to the new MacBook Pros. I was surprised when I saw these on the site since they just recently released new models only a few months ago. But overall I am a little disappointed in the lack of new features. I suppose the biggest thing to note is the new 13" model that they released. I mean come on! Thats what a regular MacBook is for! I could understand if they made a 15" MacBook, but I see no reason to make the new 13" model. Anyway, the new pros now all come with built in batteries that last a lifetime. Apple has the batteries rated at 7 hours for the 13" and 15" models and at 8 hours for the 17" models. Of course if you use the higher performance graphics chips then you can expect to shave off at least an hour of battery life. The only other new feature that I really noticed is the addition of an SD card slot. The cool thing about this is that you can boot your Mac from this card, allowing a plethora of possibilities in addition to making your Mac easier to use with your cameras. Outside of that the only new thing you'll get with these pros is a lower price tag, which is a good thing.

Overall, Apple continues to head in the right direction. Check the internet for more reviews, videos, and comments or go pick one up and try it yourself.
